The terpene bisabolol (also known as α-Bisabolol or levomenol) is a fragrant chemical compound which has a pleasant floral aroma. Bisabolol is most commonly found in chamomile flowers and its essential oil.
Bisabolol has been effective in treating bacterial infections and wounds because of its anti-irritation, antimicrobial and analgesic properties. It is also an antioxidant and has recently been shown to induce apoptosis in models of leukemia.
